This series just keeps getting better。 Amazing work and one of my favorite in this genre。
Basilius Julian,

David M,
Amazing!!!!I have not been able to put down this series。 I blasted thru all 5 books and cannot wait for number 6。 I love the dark/weird humor。 I highly recommend you go e this series a shot。
Marie,
very long but with a good pay offThe book is very long and really edging in to a more realistic view of the situation。 Especially at the end a lot of sad stuff happens。 This is more true to from for a heartless corporation but still very sad。
Olabiyi,
Causes sticky fingersYet another awesome installation of an underwear wearing, explosives expert and Donut the cat。 Hard to put down as my imagination was fully immersed in each “out-of-this-world” scene and fingers clinging to my device like a gecko on a wall…

Another Incredible Adventure Every time I’ve read a book series that lasts more than 3 books, the quality starts to go down。 And almost every time, the author starts to use different character viewpoints to explain things。 Matt doesn’t do that, except at the very beginning or end and it’s quite short。 This story mixes humour, adventure, drama and action all in a beautiful package like I’ve never seen before。 I suppose the only other element missing is romance but the book is just fine with or wi Another Incredible Adventure Every time I’ve read a book series that lasts more than 3 books, the quality starts to go down。 And almost every time, the author starts to use different character viewpoints to explain things。 Matt doesn’t do that, except at the very beginning or end and it’s quite short。 This story mixes humour, adventure, drama and action all in a beautiful package like I’ve never seen before。 I suppose the only other element missing is romance but the book is just fine with or without it。 。。。more

The story still is really good and funny, even though i really found Donut (as the author intended) really annoying quite often。 The story still excells with its twists and kept me well entertained。 I missed a bit the hilarious slapstick moments of the former books, but at least there was a -too - short foot fetish scene ;-)。 This book has again some rather witty social criticsim hidden in it that quite amused me。 What i liked less was the increasing focus on interstellar intrigue at cost of wor The story still is really good and funny, even though i really found Donut (as the author intended) really annoying quite often。 The story still excells with its twists and kept me well entertained。 I missed a bit the hilarious slapstick moments of the former books, but at least there was a -too - short foot fetish scene ;-)。 This book has again some rather witty social criticsim hidden in it that quite amused me。 What i liked less was the increasing focus on interstellar intrigue at cost of world exploration and interesting interaction with local NPC characters。 The Lucia story arc was interesting and you get to know Prepotente better。 The other characters stay twodimensional, however。 。。。more

Still going strongA good addition to the series with more laugh-out-loud moments。 Strongest moments for me are the scenes with Mongo and the final battle chapters。

Amazingly creative as alwaysAn engaging story told in Matt’s unique light hearted and fast paced, gripping style。 True moments of drama masterfully woven into place that will move anyone with a soul。Enjoy!
christopher wolske,
So much fun!I love this series and am amazed the other can keep pace with his own creation。 Can’t wait for the next one, keep ‘em coming Matt!
Wilhelm Eyrich,
Goddamnit, Donut。 Another stellar addition to the series。 Some of the item descriptions are bit too far out there and Donut is still hit or miss on some of her actions, but other than that everything in this really clicks。Really looking forward to the next one
austin,
Just incredibleWhat a book! Amazing! Great main characters that continue to grow every book crazy to see where they started and where theyve ended up!
M。R Castilla,
So Good!Dinniman does a masterful job merging elements of a LitRPG with a massive science fiction space opera。 He has mystery, drama, and romance。 He mixes multilevel layers of stories and it makes sense! It’s complex but easy to follow。 It is a page turner!
Michael,
Many layersWhen I picked up this series at the behest of a friend, I was expecting a lighthearted LitRPG romp with gratuitous violence and corny jokes。 While there *is* some of that, what took me most by surprise was the depth of character development and world building。 There are layers here, folks。 Deep, deep layers。I'm so invested in this series that I will break my own personal rule of "not reading an unfinished book series"。 I wait with bated breath for the next book。Great job, Matt Dinnima Many layersWhen I picked up this series at the behest of a friend, I was expecting a lighthearted LitRPG romp with gratuitous violence and corny jokes。 While there *is* some of that, what took me most by surprise was the depth of character development and world building。 There are layers here, folks。 Deep, deep layers。I'm so invested in this series that I will break my own personal rule of "not reading an unfinished book series"。 I wait with bated breath for the next book。Great job, Matt Dinniman。 。。。more

I hate Donut! 。。。 And it actually makes the book(s) better。 I'm not 100% sold on Carl either。 。。。 And the same applies。 That's weird right? Well, I find it logical, because if I was stuck reading about a perfect, overpowered person doing everything right all the time - I'd get bored。 I think that's called a Mary Sue character? Not sure。 Doesn't matter。 Happened to me and my kindle so many times。 Not gonna name-drop。 This series is over the top crazy, pulling off a lot of bat-shit insane concepts I hate Donut! 。。。 And it actually makes the book(s) better。 I'm not 100% sold on Carl either。 。。。 And the same applies。 That's weird right? Not sure。 Doesn't matter。 Happened to me and my kindle so many times。 Not gonna name-drop。 This series is over the top crazy, pulling off a lot of bat-shit insane concepts, skills, ideas etc。 which actually work in the context of this story。 It's a game, it's designed to be stupid like that。 And boy is this book in no way whatsoever a sliver of an exception。 But it's still not too farfetched for a human mind to wrap its head around。 Many other litrpg series go even further overboard (some, like' way'), and it just doesn't work。 I think the biggest difference is the setting。 An AI controlled game vs。 Thats-how-the-new-world-works。 Know what I mean? Doesn't matter。 Anyway, I like it。 Good decision in worldbuilding。 Couple this with the authors ability to make this about humanity and "them feels" in various form - ranging from slapstick funny to anger-inducing to heartwrenching without going too far down the path (rabbit hole?) in any direction - and you've got yourself a winner。 I find myself caring way more about the story than the silly premise should really foster。 It's not at TLoU2 levels (let's not pretend approaching that level of emotional rollercoaster is even manageable for a litrpg series), but it still packs a bit of a punch。 And I also think it has a broader appeal with regards to age demographics than many competing series because of this。 Hey, just check out the other reviews on this site, and notice the complete lack of negative ones。 That's pretty rare。 Everyone likes this。 So I applaud the author for his effort。 Nay。。, I applaud the author for his -success-。 I guess this is mostly a review of the entire series, but this one might have just been my favorite。 PS: Thank you mister author man for not inserting tons of internet lingo into your work。 。。。more

Get out there and kill, kill, killOnce again I find myself both excited and depressed upon completion。 Carl does it again with the help of Princess Donut and friends。 This is by far one of my favorite book series ever。 Every time I would go to put it down I would think "just one more page*。 Two days later (and an ocean of coffee) I now begin the slow crawl of time until the return of Carl and crew。 Get out there and kill, kill, killOnce again I find myself both excited and depressed upon completion。 Carl does it again with the help of Princess Donut and friends。 This is by far one of my favorite book series ever。 Every time I would go to put it down I would think "just one more page*。 Two days later (and an ocean of coffee) I now begin the slow crawl of time until the return of Carl and crew。 。。。more

This is a kick ass bookOne of my favorite books, not only in the genre but just in general。 The book is hilarious and might be the best out of the 5 so far。

Loving these booksThey have a bit of everything。 Horror, action, comedy, drama。 Above all they're over the top absurdity that shouldn't work but does anyway。 These stories are more addictive than reading popular brand sugar free gummy bear reviews。 Loving these booksThey have a bit of everything。 Horror, action, comedy, drama。 Above all they're over the top absurdity that shouldn't work but does anyway。 These stories are more addictive than reading popular brand sugar free gummy bear reviews。 。。。more

4。3 stars。The jigsaw picture is becoming more and more whole。 In this installment, we get to see Carl's encounters with the mad Lucia Mars, the crazy Prepotente, vampires, a head hunter (to be more precise, the head of the hunters), lots of dinosaurs, and of course, a god to boost。But what gave me the deepest impression is how part 5 is really different from the 4 previous books。 If Carl was really the driver of everything, now he seems like just a big gear in a moving machine。 The other cogwhee 4。3 stars。The jigsaw picture is becoming more and more whole。 In this installment, we get to see Carl's encounters with the mad Lucia Mars, the crazy Prepotente, vampires, a head hunter (to be more precise, the head of the hunters), lots of dinosaurs, and of course, a god to boost。But what gave me the deepest impression is how part 5 is really different from the 4 previous books。 If Carl was really the driver of everything, now he seems like just a big gear in a moving machine。 The other cogwheels: Donut, Katia, Elle and many other crawlers are doing their parts of the hustle, and there are so many details that are omitted because they happen outside of our MC's POV。 While not knowing what's going on can be annoying for some readers, I applaud Matt for bringing this sense of reality into the story。And the way he builds the world makes me think he really lives in it - and fortunately we can too。 Like everything on Earth, there's hardly a black-and-white way to categorize people into good and bad guys。 Someone 'sinister' like Orren can reveal his liking for the duo。 Some apparently good gals like Odette and Zev can act frustrating and get on Carl's nerves (but likely it's because Carl hasn't realized their good intention behind all of those revolutionary stuffs)。 Even some characters representing evil, like the hunters, who come across the universe to kill innocent crawlers, can turn out to be poor dudes who want nothing more than a good meal for their families。 That makes the moral decisions of everyone so interesting to read。Some obscure items from books ago, like the Sepsis whore crown, can turn back and haunt MCs to hell。 That's great, but a downside of this is that now there are too many items, and readers can hardly follow them all, much less to remember them。 On another note, while the castle illustration helps a lot, it still feels inadequate。 It'd be wonderful if these books became a film(s)!The way things are happening, and the way whole floor 7 is bypassed, lead me to think that this series will conclude somewhere around level 10, or 12 max。 Which is not a bad thing, because there are just too much carnage and dread and pressure now already。 Carl is a human, and no matter how buffed up he will be, there are limits to one's capacity。 The river is soaring。 Plus, a sweet and (not so) short ending will save the readers from overloading with item-tracking。 Well, I hope we can explore the whole universe in the last 1 or 2 books: so many fascinating things can happen there when we're not confined to a literal prison。 。。。more

KU Review Always fun and absurd and packed with action。 But also heartbreaking undertones that make you anxious about how it’s all going to end。 As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis。
